Tim Curry
Gearing For Football

Tim Curry, a 2007 graduate from Elysian Fields High School, is joining the roster as quarterback for the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks majoring in Multidisciplinary Studies.
He is a transfer from the University of Texas as El Paso where he was the second string quarterback last year.
Tim red-shirted in 2008 and was ranked the 62nd quarterback in the country in 2007.

The Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce 89th Annual Meeting and Membership Banquet is Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Hotel Fredonia. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a raffle and social hour. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. The Gary Justice Business Excellence Award recipients and Citizen of the Year will be honored, and the 2010-11 chamber board of directors will be inducted at the event.
Betty Shinn is event chairwoman, and members of the event committee are Charlotte Ashcraft, Corey Ashley, Donna Finley, Jessica Henderson, Laurie McCollough, Dr. Carolyn Mitchell, Scarlett Sloane, Paul Smith III, Roby Somerford, Francis Spruiell and Dr. Kavita Vyas.

The Texas Forestry Museum

Everyone had a great time playing Texas Hold’em while supporting the Texas Forestry Museum on Friday night, August 20, 2010. The tournament was held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Lufkin. The top 10 winners were able to pick from a great selection of prizes thanks to our generous sponsors. There were also lots of great door prizes. Top 10 winners were Steve Lucas, Jeff Boyd, Wilford Lowrey, Paul Dowdle, Mike Dowdle, Sloan Maddux, Chris Handley, Greg Storey, Robert Ard and L.E. Sparks. All proceeds benefitted the Texas Forestry Museum.

Although the heat disagrees, summer break is over. With the tax-free weekend being this past weekend for stores across the state, retailers throughout the area reported increased sales from 2009. This was a good way for kids to start the new school year, with nice new outfits and brand new school supplies.
