Although the heat disagrees, summer break is over. With the tax-free weekend being this past weekend for stores across the state, retailers throughout the area reported increased sales from 2009. This was a good way for kids to start the new school year, with nice new outfits and brand new school supplies. Today is the first day of school across East Texas for students, however, the teachers having in-service days as early as last week. So with the dreaded homework, the fun extracurricular activities, and the seeing of friends in the hallways, the 2010-2011 school year is in session. Students: Get plenty of rest and have a good year. Teachers: Be an inspiration to your kids and instill your vast amounts of knowledge in them. Finally, Parents: Remember most kids need a little “reminder” that homework exists. Have a good school year Nacogdoches.
